What the scales don’t tell you
You have been training for weeks, eating better, feeling stronger — and the scales show the same number as in January. That does not mean nothing has happened. It only means a scale measures too little.
A normal scale knows a single number: your total weight. It cannot tell whether that weight is muscle, fat or water. That is exactly what our new InBody 580 does — the same technology used in clinics and professional sport.

What gets measured
Muscle mass. How much muscle you carry — measured for each part of the body separately: left arm, right arm, torso, left leg, right leg. So you see not just how much you have, but where it sits and which side is lagging behind. After an injury, or if you load one side more than the other, this is often the most interesting number.
Body fat. In kilograms and as a percentage. The number on its own says little — it gets interesting compared with your last measurement.
Hydration. How much water your body holds and how it is distributed. It explains the two kilos that come and go overnight without you doing anything wrong.
Basal metabolic rate. How much energy your body uses at rest. The number every nutrition plan starts from.

|
An example
Two months of training. The scales show the same weight as before. The InBody shows: two kilos more muscle, two kilos less fat.
On the scales, nothing happened. In your body, a great deal did.

How the measurement works
You do not need an appointment. Just come by during opening hours and let reception know.
| 1 | Shoes and socks off. Your clothes stay on. |
| 2 | You stand on the device and hold the handles. Stay still, breathe calmly. |
| 3 | After around five minutes you are done. |
| 4 | Your results arrive by email within 24 hours — usually much sooner — along with a short explanation of what the numbers mean. |
Measurements are only possible during opening hours when staff are present: Monday to Friday 9am to 9pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am to 3pm.
|
|
How to make your measurement meaningful
Your body changes over the course of a day: you eat, you drink, you sweat. A morning measurement and an evening one give different numbers even when nothing has really changed. To keep your measurements comparable, stick to the same conditions as far as you can:
| — | Always measure at roughly the same time of day |
| — | Nothing to eat for 3 hours before |
| — | Nothing to drink for 30 minutes before |
| — | Do not measure straight after training |
| — | Best on an empty stomach in the morning, right after we open at 9am |
|
|
How often is it worth it?
Premium, Kurse and VIP include one measurement per month. So you may measure monthly — but usually there is little point. Muscle grows slowly, and two measurements four weeks apart often differ less than morning and evening do.
Our recommendation: every three to four months. That way you see real development instead of daily fluctuation. One measurement at the start, one after your first block of training — that is the comparison that tells you something.

The consultation with a coach
Every measurement comes with a short written explanation, sent with your results by email. That already takes you a long way.
But if you want to really understand your numbers — what they mean for your training, where to start, what is realistic — take the 30 minutes with a coach. You book that afterwards, through the link in your results email.
|
|
Worth knowing
The measurement uses a very weak electrical current. It is not suitable for people with a pacemaker or other implanted electronic devices and is not carried out during pregnancy. Under 18 only with parental consent.
Your measurements are health data. We treat them accordingly: they are used only for your own analysis and sent straight from the system to the email address we have on file for you.
